One of the best state parks in Dauphin/Lebanon counties. Great for running, mountain biking, and access to hiking and the Swatara Creek for water-based recreation. Only a 25 minute drive from Harrisburg suburbs.
Some very nice hiking in this park. The Appalachian trail also runs through this park. Did not camp or picnic there so sorry no help with that.
Great mountain biking trail loops. Nice flow with some quick climbs and a few log hops. Few small stream crossings. Loop A2 is a must do so don't skip that one! Directions: From rte 443, turn down State Park Lane. You will come to a nice parking area with a sign board which contains trail maps. Take a photo of the map and keep it with you! The trail system starts here. Ride past the sign down the straight trail and you will come to trail markings for loop A. Have fun!
Love it. So many trails with various terrains, difficulty and lengths. Great views everywhere. Plenty of wildlife. Just be sure wear hunter orange during hunting season. Access to beautiful section of the Appalachian Trail.
Very flowy and fun stacked loop of trails, primarily used for mountain biking. Total distance is under 10 miles if you do every loop once.
